What are "Synthetic Cutting Fluids"?

These cutting fluids are also water-based. But unlike soluble oils, synthetic cutting fluids are true solutions, i.e., they completely dissolve in water and have no tendency to separate. The synthetics, which are also called chemical cutting fluids, are usually clear or translucent. They are easily distinguished from soluble oils which tend to be milky in appearance.
