What is "Feed"?

Rate at which an end mill passes through the work. Can be expressed in terms of travel, normally in inches per minute; in terms of tool travel per revolution or feed per revolution; or feed per tooth (Sometimes called "chip load per tooth") or the distance in inch units the tool travels as each tooth takes a chip. Feed per revolution is equal to table travel per minute divided by RPM; feed per tooth is equal to feed per revolution divided by number of teeth. Along with "Speed", feed determines Metal Removal Rate.
