What is a "K-land"?
New flute shapes for drills have positive rake on the flute face. Without modifications this flute shape would make the drill much too aggressive. The K- land is ground along the OD inside the flute face, with up to 15 degrees negative rake and up to a width of 0.5mm. The K- land helps to prevent the drill from chattering in the hole.
