What is an "S-Point drill"?

An S-Point Drill is a drill ground to a geometry known as the "Hosoi Point". The S-Point Drill has both axial and radial lip relief with a gash similar to a split point but with a rounded corner that follows the main cutting edge. The radius size on the corner typically equals about 10% of the diameter of the drill. These points are also known as "high penetration points" and come in patented variations better known as: Sandvik's Delta, CJT's Cooljet, Mitsubishi's EX-Gold, Guhring RT100 & Guhring RT80.
