What is “Superfinishing” ?

The machining method “superfinishing” (also called short stroke honing) means that oscillating tool made of bound grade (honing stone) is pressed into the work surface. Through metal removal significant roundness and form improvement of the workpiece would be obtained by super imposing several tool movements. By applying this superfinishing method, the life of the components will be extended and noise reduced. The superfinishing of these surfaces can be either internal or external surfaces, both circular shape, profile or straight diameter. The BWF product line offers machines to superfinish internal and external bearings as well as many other parts that require superfinishing.
