How can I filter Cast Iron?

Cast iron is best filtered with a media, either permanent or disposable. Cast iron grinding or machining creates a fine, dust-like material that forms a thin tight cake that reduces flow through the media. It is important when filtering cast iron to recognize that the normal flow rate through the filter will be reduced. Depending on the application, magnetic separation can be very effective either alone or in conjunction with a media-type filter.
