What is the "Area of Contact"?
Area of Contact is referred to as the arc of contact multiplied by the width of the grinding wheel. This is not however, the true area of the grinding wheel in contact with the workpiece. The area of abrasive grain in contact with the workpiece is typically 0.5% to 5% of that area.
