What is "Parallel-Axes Thread Grinding"?

In parallel-axes thread grinding, the grinding wheel is not inclined to the helix angle but remains in a vertical position so that its rotating axis is parallel with the z-axis. This creates a profile distortion of the thread during grinding that is compensated by Studer Thread Software to a negligible level of error. This simple but powerful Windows-compatible software is used to calculate the profile distortion and to generate the dressing subprogram for optimizing the profile, which greatly simplifies the threading process in the same setup as OD or ID grinding.
