What is the result of "Dirty Tools"?
Dirty Tools don't cut. There is a lot to a cutting tool that users may take for granted. For instance, every kind of machine driven cutting tool, of any description, must have clearance designed in to it, behind the actual cutting edge. Without clearance the cut will be difficult and substandard. Pitch build-up or residue from what you are cutting will reduce or eliminate the clearance, giving the impression of a dull tool. More than once we have had someone bring a perfectly sharp tool or blade in, caked with pitch, to get it re-sharpened, and told him to simply clean it and come back when it's dull. They are usually surprised, but we don't see them again for several weeks.
