What are "Router Bits"?

Router Bits are not Drill Bits. Not much of a revelation there, but several times a month we run into poor router bit performance caused simply by the machine being programmed to drive the bit straight in to the material. Unless the bit is specifically designed to go straight in with a plunge tip, the machine has to be programmed to "Ramp In". In other words, go in on an angle. Even with the plunge tip you will get more efficient use from the bit if it plunges and travels at the same time.
