What is the Significance of "Chip Size"?
Cutting Tools are supposed to produce chips, not dust (files make dust). The larger the chip you can make and still get a satisfactory finish, the faster and cheaper you will cut, or machine your product. When the cut becomes poor, back off on the chip size. To increase the chip size you can either increase the feed rate or reduce the number of teeth, however in some cases poor dust collection can cause unnecessary over-cutting, poor tool life and also fine dust residue.
