What is the "Importance of Speed in Spiral Routers"?

Run your Spiral Routers faster. Spiral routers should be fed as fast as the hold down or the quality of the finish cut will allow. The faster they go (not the RPM - the Feed) the bigger the chip, the cooler the tool, and the longer they last.

The less material that is removed the faster it can be removed. Any process of sizing and finishing an edge or profile can be fed and produced faster when small amounts are removed at each cutting station. For example; sizing, to a finished edge, laminated material, on a high speed tenoner/edgebander, can often involve 2 or 3 heads, each removing very little with the last head, the least. This reduced cutting resistance allows for very high feed rates, with excellent results.
